The Tastes: On the inhale, expect bright citrus, soft fruit sweetness, and a little creamy candy edge underneath. The middle gets rounder and more layered, moving into pepper, light earth, floral sweetness, and some herbal freshness. The exhale finishes with dry wood, citrus peel, pepper, and a faint sweet-fruit note that lingers without getting syrupy.

For something called Platypus Venom, this is surprisingly friendly. The name suggests biological warfare from a mammal that shouldn’t exist, but the cart itself leans more citrus, spice, fruit, and smooth herbal sweetness. Cannabis naming remains a haunted house of mirrors.

Let’s see what the numbers say.

Beta-caryophyllene leads at 1.76%, giving Platypus Venom its peppery backbone. That brings dry wood, warm spice, and enough structure to keep the Watermelon Soda, Vanilla Starburzt, and Pavé side from getting too sweet.

Limonene is right behind it at 1.74%, and that’s where the bright citrus lift comes from. This is a strong limonene number, so expect that sweet citrus peel note to show up clearly on the inhale. It gives the whole profile a brighter, more active top end.

Alpha-humulene at 0.74% adds dry earth and a slightly bitter finish, reinforcing the caryophyllene and keeping the exhale grounded. Linalool at 0.51% brings floral softness, helping smooth out the spice and citrus so it doesn’t feel sharp.

Myrcene at 0.40% gives the profile some body, but not enough to make it feel heavy. Alpha-pinene at 0.32% adds a fresh green lift, while fenchol at 0.25%, alpha-terpineol at 0.21%, beta-pinene at 0.13%, and beta-ocimene at 0.11% bring extra herbal, piney, floral, and lightly sweet complexity around the edges.

The Feels: Platypus Venom lands as a bright but balanced sativa. The limonene gives the onset some lift and mood brightness, while the pinene and ocimene add a little green clarity. This should feel more active and open up front without turning into jittery nonsense, which is always appreciated.

The caryophyllene, humulene, linalool, and myrcene keep it grounded. That means the experience should settle into comfort and calm underneath the brighter start, rather than staying all gas pedal with no brakes.

The entourage chart lines up with that too, showing energy and inspiration, but also plenty of comfort, calm, and relaxation. So while this is labeled sativa, it reads like a functional, upbeat sativa with a softer landing.

Overall, with 80% total active cannabinoids and 6.88% terpene content, Platypus Venom by The Dope Depot is a citrus-forward sativa with a peppery backbone, soft floral edges, and a lightly sweet fruit finish.

The terpene profile is built around limonene, beta-caryophyllene, humulene, linalool, myrcene, and pinene. That gives it brightness, structure, dry earth, floral smoothness, and enough body to keep the whole thing from feeling thin.

Rating: Our lab rats give Platypus Venom 8.3 pieces of cheese.
